Western Arms – Smith & Wesson Sigma .40 (“Metal” Slide version)

by Airsoft Guns on September 21, 2008

The Western Arms – Smith & Wesson Sigma is a very stylish and neat looking gun. It’s very similar in looks to a Glock, but not quite the same. The grip on the Sigma looks a little bit different and certainly feels more comfortable in the hand than the Glock one. Still the square slide, simple, tactical sights, two part trigger and lack of an external safety are the same so we can’t deny the resemblance there. Anyway it’s one well made gun with the expected WA quality. No visible seams, a little strange, but nice and clear markings and very close replica of the real thing. The Sigma feels solid and good in the hands. It performs quite well although there are more accurate and powerful guns out there. Still if you play with the trigger and the hop-up you can get pretty nice groupings. Here’re some specifications:

•    Locking slide and open ejection port
•    Full metal barrel
•    Tactical white dot sights
•    Effective range: 90 feet
•    Ammo type: .2g (KSC .2g suggested for best accuracy)
•    Hop Up: Fixed for .2g
•    Weight: 700g
•    Magazine capacity: 14 rds
•    Length: 8.25″

There are some things worth mentioning as downsides – first one the kick is not so great. The gun feels kinda weak. Then the trigger pull is very heavy. It’s almost twice the pull weight of a Glock. Not that it’s a huge problem, but keep it in mind. Anyway it really is a good gun, but I suggest you do some tryouts before actually getting it. If you can find and get it, that is. The Sigma is no longer manufactured by the Western Arms and there are only a few places where you can find it. It’s not impossible though so if you really like the gun I’m sure you’ll succeed.
